God Doesn’t Make Mistakes

A Dad’s Daily Word

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.  Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you.  You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.

Jeremiah 29:11-13

I can’t tell you the number of times I hear people talking about a child being a “mistake” or an “accident.”  Let me tell you something.  Becoming a father may have been a surprise to you but it definitely wasn’t a surprise to God.  When God first spoke to the Prophet Jeremiah, He said, “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you.”  He went on to say that He set Jeremiah apart because He had a very specific purpose for him.

I don’t know about you but to me, that doesn’t sound like a God who makes mistakes.  It sounds like a God who has a plan for everyone, including you and me.  As a father, you have a role to fulfill and God in His infinite wisdom has already given you the tools to fulfill it.  God has promised to lead you, guide you, and be with you every step of the way.  As one prominent minister recently said, “God’s got this” so stop worrying.  Remember, He has you in the palm of His hand.

A Prayer for today:  Dear Lord, I come before you to thank you for the confidence and the faith that you have in me.  I know that I am the right father for this child because I know that you are perfect and don’t make mistakes.  Help me, O Lord, to accomplish your plan and to be the father that I need to be.  I pray this prayer in Jesus name, Amen.
